Elements of Distance Education Diffusion

Elements of Distance Education Diffusion Reflection

I agree with George Siemens in regards to collaborative interaction. I believe collaborative interaction has evolved and aids distance education in the development of its own identity. Collaborative interaction has evolved since the beginning of the basic emails, chat rooms and conference calls. Distance education students now use Zoho docs and Google docs which allows users to share and edit documents online. Skype allows users to see each other as they converse online. Wiki pages and online blogs allow students to collaborate with each other online instantly. Distance education learners also have the ability to utilize social media such as Facebook to collaborate with each other. Students must also submit a certain number of posts in a given amount of time in their online courses. Discussion boards and dropboxes are some online tools that can determine how much interaction occurred.

  1. Janel,
Collaboration is a great tool for real world. There are not many times that you get to work on some type of porject solely by yourself. Along the way you have to work with someone or a group. The ways that we can collaborate now are varied and allow us to pick different modules of learning. Good post!

  2. Janel,

We are teaching in exciting times with the various types of ways that we can communicate with each other. Is there a way in which we can incorporate these methods of communicating into the traditional classroom?
